Joining the influx of new and exciting brands from far away Eastern lands at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is Omoda and its 5 family SUV. It has arrived to carve out a slice of that Qashqai-dominated family SUV sales pie, with the brand calling itself ‘the innovative crossover SUV brand’.
The car itself, while generic in silhouette, has a number of distinctive design features and lines, highlighted by the Sussex sun’s rays rippling across them as it made its way up the Hill. The design language it follows is called ‘Art in Motion’, which is supposed to marry function and beauty. Both petrol and electric versions will be available at launch, too.
Omoda is also putting a focus on community and technology to differentiate itself, which it’ll need to do if it wants to upset the applecart in this segment. Omoda plans on selling 1.4 million cars by 2030, so brand awareness is key. Being here on the Hill, getting as many eyes on as possible, is a great start. We’ll be watching Omoda’s progress with keen interest.
